Peaceful Settlement Of International Disputes : 17 pages in length. Imaging a time when the global community is both harmonious and in accordance with the fundamental basis of ethical existence is what many believe to be a pipe dream, something so far-fetched that to even conceive of such a potential is fodder for a fiction novel. The idea of a world where international disputes are addressed with an overriding global ethic is as likely as close as mankind will ever get to the pipe dream, and even then there are still myriad stumbling blocks that serve to impede what might be considered a most fluid and effective approach. Peaceful settlement of international disputes is the business of two factions: International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), both of which are in place to oversee relations between and among global societies, particularly when they reach disputation. Given the significant diversity of beliefs, policy and ethics, the ICJ and UNSC are burdened with the responsibility of appeasing the individual country and the global society at the same time.
